1,000 Kisses is a poetic meditation on expressions of queer love and intimacy from trans-non binary-Ace lived experiences. Presented as a site specific, text based work illuminated by neon LED lighting, the work explores the radical and rebellious joy, love, sadness, rage and grief that accompanies public displays of queer intimacy. The feelings of cruising, holding hands, hugging, kissing, sharing space, exchanging breath, sweat and spit. The rush of serotonin. Followed by the come down.
1,000 Kisses, is part of ReVITALise Rainbow Tunnels Program a project by Cultural Capital, Transport for New South and Sydney World Pride as part of the Safer Cities program. Safer Cities aims to revitalise pedestrian tunnels in Sydney’s inner west with lighting and public art to help women, girls and LGBTQIA+ people feel safer using these spaces. Each work is a temporary piece of public art that also celebrates our local queer communities.
